British Legion Club's "hour of
need" The Polperro
British Legion Club building was completed in 1952 and has been
operating as a Legion club ever since. Recently the club has experienced
a marked downturn in usage (along with many other such establishments)
and needs your help to continue.
Unfortunately, the club was left in a precarious financial position
approximately 8 years ago when all the club savings were stolen
by the treasurer at that time. The club has struggled to return
to a sure financial footing ever since and is ill equipped to
cope with the current economic downturn.
Ways you can help:
- use the club more: drinks prices are cheap which
is ideal for these difficult times!
- use the club for your society meetings - hold your
functions at the club the building is empty during the day
and could be utilised eg. for a nursery
- volunteer: there are always odd jobs to be done and
more hands are always welcome
- join the committee - have your say on the day to
day running of the club
- fund raising: ideas on fund raising are always welcome,
particularly if you are able to implement them
- sponsorship: we are looking into a sponsorship scheme
