Noonan Named New York State Rookie of the Week

New York University freshman middle hitter Erin Noonan was named the New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA) Rookie of the Week on Wednesday.

Noonan notched a career-high 22 kills against the University of Rochester and Brandeis University as the Violets went 2-1 at University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin #1. The rookie recorded 46 kills (3.5 kills per game) while hitting .281 and added 10 blocks over the course of the weekend.

Previously this year Noonan has been named to the All-Tournament teams at the 2007 Bomber Invitational at Ithaca College and the 5th Annual Linda Slagel Volleyball Classic at Millikin University.

The Violets return to action this Friday when they play host to the 2007 Violet Classic. NYU's first match is set for 4:00 pm against #11-ranked Haverford College.
