Polperro is located on the south coast of Cornwall, some 25 miles west of Plymouth (Devon) and 250 miles from London. Liskeard is some 13 miles distant (north), Looe 6 miles to the east and Fowey 10 to the west (via Bodinnick ferry).
by Car:Polperro is most easily reached by car - travel from England via M5 and A38 and cross the River Tamar at Saltash (Plymouth), continue westwards on A38 towards Liskeard to Trerulefoot roundabout (approx 6 miles) and at this roundabout take first exit (A374) signposted Looe and Torpoint. After 1 mile on A374 turn right on A387 to Looe. At Looe, cross the bridge and continue on the A387 to Polperro .
Once in Polperro the car will be useful for all the visits you will want to make to places of interest in the area. However, in the summer months, Polperro itself is virtually inaccessible to cars during the day (and in practical terms there are very few parts of Polperro you could get a car to anyway - its roads/lanes are too narrow and/or steep). Cars have to be left in the main car park (charge at all times - day and night) which is easily found as one approaches Polperro. Some hotels and apartments may have their own car parking - check when you book - or visit our "Where to Stay" page.
by Rail:Looe has a station on the Looe Valley line which connects with the national rail system at Liskeard.
Take a Great Western train to Liskeard (from Paddington, London, trains via Bristol - Exeter - Plymouth to Liskeard and Penzance) or a Virgin Cross-Country train (from Birmingham or the North-East).
On arrival at Liskeard station and, depending on time of day, either take the Looe Valley line train to Looe, or bus, or taxi (8 miles from Looe, plus another 5 or 6 to Polperro). The Looe Valley line runs during the day only so check the timetable carefully bearing in mind your time of arrival. You may have to take a bus (infrequent) or, more likely, a taxi to get to Polperro.
To check train times or book tickets visit The Trainline.com.
by Coach or BusNational Express coaches run to Plymouth and to Liskeard and local bus services can get you to Polperro. But do your homework first or you may have a long wait! Fuller details will be on this website in due course.
by FootOne of the nicest ways to get to Polperro is whilst on a walking holiday on the South West Coastal Path / Cornish coastal path. The path passes through Polperro. There are a number of guide books (including an Ordnance Survey guide). Ordnance Survey maps covering Polperro include: Landranger No.201 1:50000 scale (2cm = 1km); Explorer 107 1:25000 scale (4cm = 1km).
